Twitter for BlackBerry App launched..!

Twitter had just announced the agreement with Atebit to acquire Tweetie, a leading iPhone app, a few hours ago.. Tweetie will now be named "Twitter for iPhone" and will be offered for free in the app store (Previously Tweetie was priced at $2.99).. This is a really good news for iPhone users.. However, BlackBerry users needn't be disappointed as "Twitter for BlackBerry app" has now been launched..!

BlackBerry users can now stay connected with their followers on Twitter with "Twitter for Blackberry" app.. RIM has launched the Twitter for BlackBerry app and can now be downloaded for free at  blackberry.com/twitter.. This app has been loaded with a lot of features.. Some of the app highlights are :

• Real time BlackBerry push of Twitter direct messages
• Camera and photo gallery integration
• Browser Integration - Tweet links directly from your browser
• Customizable Interface - Change fonts, hide tool bars, etc.
• Inbox Integration - Read your Twitter direct messages along side your email and text messages
• @integration so that if you receive an email or text message which includes an @username, it is linked to the Twitter app profile page
• Twitter lists integration
• Notification of @mentions
• Search for users, content, and trending topics
• Available in French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Brazilian Portuguese

 With the launch of iPhone apps and BlackBerry apps, it is clear that Twitter wants to expand into the mobile apps industry.. Twitter will soon be launching apps for other major mobile platforms too..
