It will surely take a while before this feature becomes available on all videos.. There are over 20 hours of video are now being uploaded to YouTube every minute.. Hence, captioning the videos manually would not be a good idea.. Google's speech recognition technology would make it possible to caption all these videos.. However, the technology isn't 100% accurate.. There may be some mistakes.. If you spot a mistake in one of your own videos, however, you can easily download the captions and correct the error..
Currently, auto-captioning is available only for English videos.. However, they will add more languages in the months to come.. The video must have certain requirements so that the captioning works well.. Here a few requirements:
- Only English spoken videos will have auto-captioning.. Other languages are not currently supported.. But Google is looking forward into adding more languages..
- Auto-captions aren't perfect.. The owner of the video needs to check to make sure they're accurate.. It also depends on the quality of the audio..
- The audio should be clear.. Audios with background sounds cannot be captioned..
Auto-captions are available for everyone who's interested in using them.. Google is also working to provide auto-captions for all past user uploads that fit the above mentioned requirements..
This technology is really going to create a revolution in online streaming videos..! There will be no other competitors to this famous video streaming site.. No other site can offer such cool technology.. :)
